Good afternoon guys, Please note, I'm a noodie at this. So be nice! :-D Ok. I'm trying to run a Visonik V800XD Amp to a pair of Kenwood KFC- 2525DVC 10IN subwoofers. I got everything hooked up. But the fuse at the battery a single 25a fuse keeps blowing. The Amp starts up, and in about 3 seconds the power light fades out and it dies, blowing the amp with it. This is going in a 2001 Toyota Celica. You can find specs for the subs here https://www.lightav.com/car/kenwood/sub/sub.html The specs for the amp are here. https://www0.shopping.com/xPF-Visonik-V800XD I would imagine something is off with the power here, the cables are run properly, perhaps the amp is blown (it's old) or perhaps it's too big or too small for the application. I believe the problem to be with the amp. Please let me know guys! Thanks! Anthony

That amp uses 4 X 30 amp fuses, right? That means it is designed to draw up to 120 amps from your electrical system. Your 25 amp supply is simply too light. You need to use 4AWG power and ground cable and fuse at more like 150a. ------------- Support the12volt.com

does the fuse blow even if the volume of the deck all the way down? does it blow without the sub connected? If it blows under these scenario's then there's something wrong. However, if it is blowing when you have the subs attached and volume up, then your fuse is rated too low.

As Dyohn said, it's the fuse vale that it as fault here. It's simply too small. You must upgrade your power cable to at least a #4, and put a 150A fuse in that power cable. That'll fix you right up!

DYohn, thanks for the reply. Yes this amp has 4 fuses of 30a. Is this amp perhaps overkill for these speakers?

Well the amp is crazy old, and I'm starting to wonder if perhaps its simply too big. We want the car to bump, but not rattle apart. My Kenwood amp in my Monte Carlo only uses 1 fuse, and it's bumps nicely in my car. Perhaps this amp just isn't the right fit for the application??

You haven't answered the question as to whether or not the fuse blows when you're playin music or if it just blows by itself because you stated "the amp starts up and 3 seconds later the fuse blows...." Sounds like there's another problem all together here!

Ok heres the scenerio today, I replaced the ground and power wire, because I was using 10awg wire with a 25a fuse. This was simply too small. So I replaced it with 4awg wires that had a 100amp maxi fuse near the battery. I reconnected the amp completely, ground, power, remote, speakers, and RCA's.
We turned on the car, the LED lit up to indicate the amp was on. Before the music started, the amp turned off and didn't work. There was no power to any of the 4 30amp fuses connected to the amp. So I decided to check the maxi fuse up from. It was blown. It blew the 100amp Maxi Fuse at the battery.
Now I'm just stumped.
I see the amp is drawing 120 amps with the 4 30amp fuses connected to it. I was wondering if perhaps the Maxi fuse was too small, or the amp is bad. What do you think??

Assuming you didn't create a short to ground in the power wire, your amp is fried. ------------- Support the12volt.com

Do not try it again. If it blew a 100 amp fuse, as DYohn stated, the amp is blown. It has shorted output transistors. If you try it again with a bigger fuse, there is a real good chance you will take the power supply out. Stop and find a repair shop in your area and get an estimate on getting it repaired.

Ok! SO I bought a new amp, replaced the blown fuse and presto chango, the system works! I bought a Kenwood Amp to go with the Kenwood Speakers. Now I was hoping you guys could help me on how to set the EQ levels to make it bump nicely. It's a KAC-8104 Kenwood Amp paired with 2 Kenwood KFC-W2525DVC 10IN Subs.
