I have a soundstream reference 700s amplifier that is broken. It still turns on and works but the sound is distorted and poor. The local electronic shops won't work on it. Can you send these amps to soundstream and have them fix it? Does anybody know of a local shop in the central ohio area, mainly columbus, that does work on soundstreams. One guy that normally fixes my amps said he could fix it if he had the service manual or something like that. Does anyone know where to locate something like that. Thanks for your help. Mike

Might want to check out some other repair shops see what they have to say. You can contact soundstream they should be able to repair the amp but it won’t be cheap. If it’s an old amp that has been repaired more than once then it might be cheaper to buy a new one then continue to fix the old one.

open up the amp and look to see if any capacitors have juice coming out of them if yes go online find the exact cap and replace make sure the (?)v and (?)uf also the letter inside the stripe are the same and the overall color of the cap also must match. If no sign of capacitors are blown look for any burns or something that doesn't look right and replace or repair it. If nothing seems to look wrong you will probably try checking your wiring, rca, and most important your ground. You could also contact soundstream they selll the service manual for somewhere like $50 or something.

Contact soundstream through www.soundstream.com and talk to them. These amps are (as you know) not just any old pyrmid amp they need to be fixed correct and that way if for some reason it goes bad again send it back and if the same thing is wrong they fix it for free! Save your money and do it correct the first time!
