I'm a noob here been lurking for awhile, eventually liked what i saw and came in. Either way I've been installing for a few years and I figured I should do a big stereo build. I started picking stuff out and I got a pretty good deal on a barely used 15 in eclipse Titanium, and a pretty solid deal on a JL 1000.1 amplifier.

I'm running two Kinetic batteries in my Passat (99 V6 120 amp alternator) Front battery kinetic HC1400, rear battery Kinetic HC800, 160 amp fuse in-between batteries. Jl 1000.1 has 100 amp fuse in power wire, Eclipse EA4100 running 4 polk DB components has 60 amp fuse in power wire. Headunit is Eclipse AVN6620BT 3x5v preouts. Literally speaking when I say the entire car is dynamated, has almost 8 cases in it. Running mid entry JL RCA's with 12 gauge monster speakers wire to all door speakers and 10 gauge from jl 1000.1 to 15inch eclipse titanium. Stinger 4 gauge running to everything. Second battery ground less then a foot, and also both amp grounds under 2 feet. Box is 6.1 cubic foot vented 1 inch MDF all the way around with a 2 inch baffle, I built the box and used a main load bearing support along the back.

Question time.......

The eclipse is a dual "4 OHM" sub, figured it would be alright on the JL amp seeing as it goes down to 1.5 OHM stable. Fought with it forever to get it to work right, tried everything. Then it hit me JL amps are 1.5-8OHM stable and see the supposed same power output, is this true???? I tried it today and the sub doesn't hit nearly as hard. It did correct the cutting out problem because now it holds 7.6 OHM versus 1.6. Does anybody know if this is typical of eclipse subs, it' just getting mroe and more aggravating. The last 15 titanium I had I was running off a hifonics brutus 1500D and it hit pretty dang hard, this was in a 3.5 sealed enclosure. I know this makes quite the difference but either way, usually speaking a 1000 watts is a 1000 watts from "JL".

Have you checked voltage at the power and ground terminals of the amp, with the amp playing as loud as you can play it?

I know this isn't helping with your question, but you say you have a 160a fuse in between the batteries and are using 4g wire? If so, you'll need to get a 150a fuse.

it's a 150 amp fuse......typo, and yes the power wires at both amps always stay over 13.9 volts. as previously stated i switched it to run at 8 ohms which tested out like 7.2, and it's been holding up fine. The ground is well secured and is in a thick enough gauge metal. Even if the amp would cut out previous to the switch to 8 ohms it would turn off but still hold no less then 13.9, and same goes with the eclipse 4 channel and same with all the remote wires.....
