Current:'95 chevy S10,Eclipse 3422 HU,AudioControl 4.1 in-dash EQ,Phoenix Gold 4 ch amp (don't remember name it's blue and under seat) 4x40 @4 ohm-4x75 @2 ohms. Front 2 ch.Running 2 pair Quart seperates (door and dash) 2 ohm stereo.Rear bridged @4 ohm mono running 1 (old round) Kicker solobaric 10" in sealed box.Power cable is #4,also have 1 farad Monster cap.
Phew! Now the question.I can get a Rockford Fosgate 500s (500x1) for cheap to run the Kicker. Will the stock S10 charging system be able to keep up? Or am I asking for trouble?
Thanks,

If you add the fosgate that will be an additional 36 amps (at max volume) if you add that to everything you have, at full volume you will probably be pulling about 60 amps total. Now your alternator puts out 105 amps. I would suggest that you get at least a 160+ amp alternator to power everything. You can find a 160 amp high out put alternator for about $250. But I would add the fosgate and see how things go.

If you get to this quick, these should be good (and perhaps overkill, but that's not bad!). If you're really into the DIY work, get the stuff to add one of these as a second alternator https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/dll?ViewItem&item=2407427645&category=6774 https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/dll?ViewItem&item=2407459082&category=33573 https://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/dll?ViewItem&item=2407353533&category=33573 ------------- 2009 Pontiac G8 in planning stage

Yo Doods,Thanks for the help! I've got the amp in,and so far no probs. The lights aren't dimming, and the voltage seems to be holding steady.Hopefully I won't have to upgrade the alternator.
BTW the system really sounds great now! Amazing the bass you can get from 1-10" in a shoebox sized box, with the right power.
BTW-2 why are so many peeps on the message boards so anti-cap? Without it,just using the 1 smaller amp my lights were dimming like mad.I know it's doing something right!

They probably think you're trying to get away with using a capacitor without a powerful enough alternator. Caps are no replacement for an alternator but they are great if your lights dim a bit on heavy bass notes. ------------- 2009 Pontiac G8 in planning stage
