Have anyone heard of Massive Audio CW12 subwoofers? The. subwoofer closely resembles FI woofers. i have somebody who is offering me 2 12 inch CW12 for $240 brand new..

If anyone has dealt with them before can yo please describe he quality of the subs...

I just installed the Massive DMX12's into a semi and their OK. They require ALOT of power to run properly, but quality wise they are built well, but mainly for SPL.

Gathering from your user name, they're probably perfect for you. Like Jeff says, power hungry, and very little regard for SQ. Put 'em in a big vented box, tuned for about 45 to 48Hz, and you'll probably be happy with 'em. That's what they're for.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

If i was you i would buy them. I had 2 Massive Audio CW10's and i loved them. They were in modified Kicker ported truck boxes and they could really make some bump, only working with about 1 ft^3. You will need some power to push them though. Atleast 600 RMS a piece but with these subs if you have them in a good enclosure you can go higher and they will pound.

Oh i almost forgot to mention this detail about those subs. When i first got mine i was using a head unit with only 2 volt preamp outputs and the sound was somewhat muddy. The bass was clear but the distinguishment from the different frequencies wasnt all to great. Later i upgraded to a nicer Pioneer head unit with 4 volt preamp outputs and the subs came alive. They were really up on another level. So my advice if you get these subs is go with a nice head unit, a RCA preamp would be a help, and a quality amp would bring these subs into their true forms.

Your gains weren't set correctly.

"The bass was clear but the distinguishment from the different frequencies wasnt all to great".

One of the qualifications for an SPL sub.
