best possible box, sub, and amp setup?

I have 2 12" Phoenix Gold XMAX subs, powered by a 1200 watt Crunch Powerzone amp (I know, it's doodie, but it's what I could afford), in a homemade ported box (I didn't make the box, so I don't know the exact specs). What is the best wiring setup, box type/specs, etc. that I can use in order to get the most out of what I have? I'm sorry that this is kind of vague, but I'm relatively new to car audio setup and installation, and I only have very basic knowledge on the subject.

Your help would be appreciated.

Since you're stuck with what you have (unless you can return one or both of the products, you're stuck), all you can do is put them in your car, set the gain, and be done with it.

Had you asked BEFORE you bought the amp or had the box built, we might have been able to save you a bit of trouble, money and time, as well as provide you with some alternatives.

We do have to know whether the woofers are single or dual voice coils, and what the impedance of them is - 2 or 4 ohms. I have done a bit of searching right quick, and I can't find specifications for them anywhere. Also, which amp model number is it? There are several Crunch PowerZone amplifiers.

The woofers are single voice coil at 4 ohms. The amp I have is a P1100.2, 1100 watts, not 1200 like I accidentally said above.

Measure the box by determining inside dimensions.  And measure the port:  diameter if round, W times H if rectangular;  and measure port length.
