Hello everybody

Here is the story.

I went out and bought and Alpine Type R sub (10 inch, DVC 2ohm) and a sealed box. I hooked it up to a Rodek amp (RA 250E) which is an older amp, 2 channel.

Any who, after I hooked everything up, I went to test the system and the amp stays in "protection" mode and the sub won't play at all.

I have no idea why it is doing this,

This is what I did:

The sub has 4 terminals: I jumped the 2 middle terminals and ran speaker wire from the outer terminals to the amp. I am not sure if this is the proper way to do this. The sub came with 2 jumpers. Should I jump all 4 terminals? Or not use a jumper at all?

Is the amp too old? How can I find out if it's bridgeable?

Should I just go with a newer amp?

How can I make this work!!!!!!!!!!!!

Help is much appreciated!

Disconnect the speaker from the amp, turn the amp on, if it is still in protect, the amp is probablly broken. If the amp does not go into protect, you have a problem with the wiring of the speaker. Connect one voice coil to one channel of the amp, and connect the other voice coil to the other channel of the amp.

If the amp is broken, it has shorted output transistors. This is a very easy repair, you can probably repair it yourself for 25 dollars. I can walk you through it if you need.

I'm not sure about "middle" terminals, but you need to take one jumper and put it from the positive of one voice coil to the negative of the other voice coil, leaving one set of terminals unoccupied. These are the terminals you then connect to the amplifier.
