I've installed a Clarion Pro Audio 15" Sub (rated at something like 700W RMS - 1500 Peek) in a sealed box, and have it hooked up to an Alpine MRP - M500 at 2ohms. I know that the amp isn't really the best for this sub, however I ran it before with a Sony Mono block rated lower, so I'm improving at least. The real low frequencies in songs are hitting such as ones found in rap, but higher bass frequencies such as ones in rock songs aren't really as loud. I've tried the sub in two different sized boxes as well to see if the size was restricting the sub. I hope this makes sense. I don't know what else to think of. Any help or suggestions would be great.

I'm going to guess the enclosures are tuned to be really loud at certain frequencies. The boxes were probably designed for SPL and not sound quality, theyll sound loud and boomy when hitting the right frequencies but anything else will not sound great. Youre underpowering your sub by at least 200watts, I cant imagine thats going to produce the best sound when you crank the volume. The amp will start clipping pretty fast.

I have it set at 80hz on both the amp and the deck.

If you're using the head unit LP filter, try setting the amp to "full" or off or turn the crossover up to it's highest setting. See what happens. ------------- Support the12volt.com

Use only one and try setting it to 120

Well I can't turn either of them off, I'd like to just be able to use the one but I can't. Or do I just set one higher then the other to turn it off??

Like I said earlier, set the amplifier LP to its highest setting (200Hz on your Alpine.) ------------- Support the12volt.com

Ok that does sound better...but what if I wire the sub to run only one of the voice coils? Because that way I will at least have enough power from the amp.
