i need some help. my stereo knowledge aside from basic electrical wiring is minimal.

i have 2 10's with a hifonics amp, and to me it just doesn't sound like it should. so i have a question about my wiring, and ohms, and how my wiring should be laid down.

i bought the speakers back in 99. ive used them off and on and they're in pretty good condition. but i bought the subs, and the box pre-assembled, and im disappointed in the speaker wire inside and the cheap crimper connectors. should i be using better speaker wire, and connectors? they feel really flimsy, and cheap.. is it that big of a deal?

so here's my pics. tell me if im doing something wrong, or how you guys would do something different.

ok. so how would you wire this setup? and should i worry about the crappy speaker wire from sub, to the box terminal's?

ok so I saw your thread on another forum also, they way you have it set up right now you are running each channel at 3ohm, by doing this you have eact sub getting about 125watts. Per the specs you posted this sub would like to get 300watts, so yes you are under powering the subs, which would be why you are not getting the best sound out of your subs.
My suggestion to you would be to bridge you amp, what you will need to do is wire your subs to a 1.5ohm load, in the diagram you have it is the middle one on the right where you run your subs in parallel. On your amp you will connect the positive to the far left channel and the negative to the far right channel (it is outlined on the amp where is says bridges above the channels), This will give you alot more power out of your amp. This should put out alot more power to your subs and should be around 300watts per sub. If you do this let me know how it works out , heres my email < color=#22229c>-ryan21@comcast.net

Ummm... that's all fine and dandy, except the amp ISN'T STABLE BRIDGED INTO A 1.5 OHM LOAD! That's the same as running the amp in stereo at .75 ohms, which it isn't rated for! You are wired maximally, with those woofers and that amp.

Even though it does claim to be 1 ohm stable, I wouldn't push it that hard, personally.

There is no such thing as "underpowering" a woofer, it simply cannot happen. You can "overdrive" a low-powered amplifier, but that is not remotely the same thing, and what is likely happening here, raising your complaint...

i understand what your saying, and i should prolly get a bigger amp, that is running a RMS rating, and not a low ohm bridge.

i have 6ohm subs. the VC's in parallel, and the woofers in series, i should be at 1.5 ohm. which im hoeping isn't thats hard for the amp.

i don't plan on pushing it 100%, maybe 60-75%, but has to be better than the 6ohm stereo i have it wired in right now.. thats only giving me maybe 60-75W... for a sub, thats sad.

until today, ive learned about ohms, how they're wired, and how it makes the amp react. thank god for the internet. :)
