looking into some amplifier options ive noticed some with rca pass thru options. i take it that this is an unamplified full range signal supposedly used for connecting another amp?
what would the benefits be of this feature and has anyone used it before?
You have it correct it’s just a normal unamplified signal pass thru. It’s used for system building. I f you need to run more than one sub amp you would get the signal to the 2nd one using the RCA output on the first amp. I have used it before and it works great much better than adding a Y adapter to get 2 amps off 1 signal.
Be careful if you do this with Rockford Power BD class amps. They require a
bdSYNC cable when joining multiple amps using the RCA passthrough. They also have a
Punch Link that's supposed to be used to join multiple amps (power, ground, input signal) but I'm still trying to find more info on them. But I am sure that the Power BD series amps require the bdSYNC cable when using the RCA passthrough (and 1 amp needs to be set to 0 degrees phase, the other at 180 degrees phase)

Cool, I wondered why RF made the bdSync cable and the link. I wasn't sure if the Punch Link was just the bdSYNC for non-BD class amps. Makes sense now. Thx

Donate to the12volt.comso let me get this straight........its an unmaplified stereo signal then....so it owuldnt be crossed over at all from the first amp in any way.and the left and right channels would operate the same as if connected to a HU?
Yes, that's how they work, or most of them anyway.
