Hi, Just purchased an Eclipse CD5100 off of Ebay. But the harness they sent was from an older unit, (It doesn't have the Brown / Br/Blk wire for steering wheel controls). Can anyone tell me the pinout of the CD5100. I am worried also that the harness may fry the unit..
Thanks

Do you have an ohm meter? I can help you check that plug to make sure it will not fry your unit.
Yes, I have a multi meter..
With the plug connected to the radio, and your meter set to diode test function, that will be the setting with a diagram of a diode. Touch and hold the black lead to the chassis of your radio. Now touch the other lead to the ground wire of the plug. That should read very near 0.000 probably 0.002. Now remove that lead from the ground wire and touch it to the Yellow wire, notice the reading. Now reverse the leads and notice that reading. One of the last 2 readings should have been around .500 and the other should have continued to climb to a much higher number, 1.XXX. If all statements above are correct, we have veritied the ground and constant wires are in the correct position on the plug. Now with the blaock lead back on the chassis of the deck, touch and hold the red lead to one of the 8 speaker wires, notice the reaction of the meter, this will go to no set number, but all 8 of the speaker wires should make the meter react exactly the same way. I am not familiar with the internals of the Eclipse radios so I can not tell you how the remote and switched wires should react, but if so far everything else checks out, I would have to say that those 2 wires should be in the correct location.
Just in case you need a picture to identify the diode test function, following is a pic of what it should look like.

Sweet, it looks to me that the black and yellow are switched.. as if I do your steps backwards I get the result above.. So I am gonna have to get someone to get me a pinout, or a picture of the right harness at least.. thanks again, thats good information.. Happy Thanksgiving.
