How narrow can a portion of an enclosure be before it negatively affects the preformance of a sub? I want to put a sub into an area that is not big enough for a correct sized enclosure, however the enclosure could be extended into another area by a narrow passage/channel of some sort. Maybe the internal dimensions of the channel would be .75 by 5 by 5 inches.

In general, the geometry of a subwoofer enclosure does not matter.  It is the net airspace volume that matters.  So go ahead and make it whatever odd shape you need to.

ok.  I was thinking more in terms of air movement inside the sub being constricted or choked rather than the actual geometry.
