quick question,

i am about to get a line driver... but my question is... if i have 2 sub amps.... and i split the RCA lines so the signal goes to both amps... does it also split the voltage over the 2 amps....

example: line driver 10 volts/2 amps= 5 volts per amp?

10 volts divided by 2 amplifiers = 10 volts to each amplifier.     Why are you even thinking about a line amp?   The input impedance of an amplifier is around 10,000 ohms.  You can easily connect 10 or more amplifiers to even a basic deck without losing voltage from the deck..

Why would i want a line driver?

the deck only puts out 3 or 4 volts.... I compete in Usaci so the extra voltage coming through the RCAs will matter.

Are you using amplifiers designed for use in automobiles?

Wrong answer. If you have an amplifer that has an effective sensitivity that even TOUCHES the output voltage of the amplifer, (example: let's just say the amp has a range of 200mV to 8V, and your present deck offers 3V) you will get full output from the amplifier... You cannot NOT get full output. That's the fact. The reason that i am asked if you were using amplifiers for the car, then your 3 to 4 volt deck will be perfectly adequate to get all the power from your amps; they WILL be driven to full output.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
