hey guys. I dont really know much about ohms but I just got this sub. https://www.sonicelctrnix.com/item_8362_Kicker+07CVR122.html
from what I understand I have to wire this at 1 ohm or 4 ohms. Would I have been better off getting the 4 ohm sub? and would this amp work? https://www.sonicelctrnix.com/item_6596_Kicker+ZX400.1.html
or would i need something with more power at 4 ohms like this?
https://www.sonicelctrnix.com/item_6595_Kicker+ZX750.1.html
any help would be appreciated. I havent ordered an amp yet. Thanks
that website is not working for me, but im guessing your getting the sub with the kicker box too. if so it will most likely be the dual 4 ohm sub wired in parallel to bring it to a 2 ohm load at the terminals. the zx400 will be fine if you wire it in parallel.

actually i ordered the box seperate. so its not wired at all. its a 2 ohm sub with dual voice coils. i was planning to get the zx400 amp bc it made 400 watts rms power at 2 ohms and the sub is also rated at 400 watts rms at 2 ohms but since the sub will have to be wired at 4 ohms does that mean ill need a more powerful amp?
Class D Monoblock Subwoofer Amplifier RMS Power Rating: - 4 ohms: 200 watts x 1 channel
- 2 ohms: 400 watts x 1 channel
variable low-pass filter (50-200 Hz at 24 dB per octave) variable bass boost (0-18 dB at 40 Hz) subsonic filter (12 dB at 25 Hz) wired remote bass level control included Class D design CEA-2006 compliant speaker-level inputs preamp inputs and outputs fuse rating: 40A x 1 8-gauge power and ground leads recommended — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier 10-1/4"W x 2-5/16"H x 9-5/8"D Since there is no 1 ohm power rating on their webpage, it leads me to believe that it is not 1 ohm stable.
If they make that same woofer in a dual 4 ohm configuration, it would be more suitable for that amplifier. Your only choice with that woofer is to wire it in series for a 4 ohm load.
yes, you should have gotten the cvr 124 rather than the 122 for the zx400. so pretty much the answer is yes, you need a more powerful amp that will do 400w @ 4 ohm. this way youre probably going to get an amp that will allow you to upgrade your if you want a more powerful sub. the TMA T2-1000.1 made by jl audio comes to mind. or the T2-500.1
This way you can add another cvr122 later and wire it to be 2 ohm load. warning: this is going to be more expensive to get this kind of amp. another option would be to try to swap the sub for a 4 ohm version and run the zx400 on it. really depends on how much cash you want to spend and what you want out of your stereo

yeah I'm going to go ahead and exchange it for the 4 ohm sub and go with the zx400.1 amp. Ive never dealth with dual voice coil subs so I wasnt prepared for this but thanks for the help.
Make sure you get the Dual Voice Coil 4 ohm speaker.
yea i dont like how kicker made their products myself, they make dual 2 subs but no reasonable amps that are stable at 1 ohm
