I just found out my car stereo drains the battery. I didn't drive it for a few days and I went to start it and nothing happened. Just the clicking noise so I knew it was the battery and figured the stereo had something to do with it. How can I wire it without it constantly being on? My other stereo never did this. I have the two 12 volt wires connected to the constant. Should I connect to my cigarette lighter and how? Thanks.

Connect the red wire of the radio to a switched 12 volt source. That would be the _______ colored wire on the harness that was plugged into the factory radio.

Always Always Always use a SWITHCED 12v source. The only audio equipment that needs a direct connect to the battery is an amplifier. And it has a "turn on " wire for it that is controled by a switched source. There are some things that have a memory wire, that stays on all the time, but the current draw is waaay low.
