I have got a sony head unit which tells me to use 4ohm speakers on it but i`ve got a load of 8ohm speakers.  can i use them on this system, are there any mods i need to know about?

well there are no need for mods  for your um system. you can simple fix this problem by one getting some new speakers or  thing bout bridging them together in series  parrell.

Hi nfidgit, yes you can safely use 8 ohm speakers on any head unit/amplifier that recommends 4 ohm speakers. No mods are required, however you can parallel two 8 ohm speakers per channel giving you a 4 ohm load per channel.
