I need help finding a wire i can tap into and use for the remote wire for the amp i just installed. If anyone can explain the easiest wire to get to i already tried the brown wire under the dash i assumed to be the accessory from the ignition harness as it read 12 volts when i turned the key but it would not turn my amp on instead the dashboard lights flashed along with the protect light on the amp.

Yes and Yes. I use Blue, Yellow and Red. Blue is the remote wire that turns the device on. Yellow on the center pin = constant voltage. Red on the right leg is your new Switched output.

I'm sure the way described above works great, but why not just use a relay? Whenever i do a DVD in a new GM truck i just relay the power for it, triggering the relay with the brown wire at the igntion switch. It is rated 2 amps, done a hundred of them this way. I get constant for the relay in the left fuse box.

I built that device so we can add XM to the newer GM and Chrysler vehicles.  They display the exact problem you are describing if you do not use the device.
