I have an MTX 895 %channel amp. I was listening to some tunes and turned it up and the sound went dead. After that I smelled smoke. The smell seems to be coming fron the speaker teminal outputs. Anyway, I took it to my local shop. The amp will power on (the red light is lit up) but no sound. What do you guys think?? MTX says they won't look at it because it's too old. They told me I could send it to them and upgrade at a reduced price. Should I cut my losses and get a new amp, or is this one worth trying to get fixed (if it can be fixed). Also, is there anyone out there in The Austin/San Antonio area or anywhere inbetween that could possibly fix it.

I also forgot to add that it have taken the amp apart warrenty is already expired and did not notice anything that was burnt or otherwise out of place, but then again I'm no expert on this.

Depending on how much of a discount MTX offered you may want to consider throwing the damaged amp up on Ebay - people will usually pay a decent amount for damaged amps.

Getting the amp repaired outside of MTX is still an option.
