I am trying to build a box for 2 of the RE sx12's.  They are DVC 4ohms, and handle 1000 rms.  I am at work right now and have no way to add links to the t/s parameters but can add them from home.

I have been playing with winisd but must be doing something wrong.  It is saying I need a .3 cu ft box, with a 45" port.  The port is like twice the size of the actual box.  I'm sure this isn't right.

I guess I'm trying to see if anyone on this site might have personal experience with these subs.  And what worked best for you.  Or if anyone can just help me with the winisd program.  I read the guide on here and entered the parameters exactly as it said to.  But I just couldn't get anything that looked right.

I have a Hifonics bxi2008 to run them with.  Yeah, yeah, I know nobody here likes hifonics, but its worked for me for a long time.  The vehice is a 2003 lincoln town car, so there should be plenty of space to build an optimal enclosure.

If your subwoofer came with a sheet of parameters, list them here or provide a link.   Check out this link and let us know if this is what you have.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

the sx series likes big, ugly, ported boxes

posted_image

this is my 18" SX but you get the picture. this box is right around 5.5 cubic feet including the port volume. my port is 3x18x26 and is tunned to about 30hz so i get really nice bass response down to the 25hz range

i might also add that this is the second box that i built for this sub. the first box was about the same general size but the port was only 2 inches wide and about 10 inches shorter. i only could hit about 142DB with the first box, which is still loud, but it is insulting for an 18 in a small truck. so i used trial and error and adjusted the dimensions and gained about 8-9 DBs. this just goes to show that building the right ported box can be tricky, so you might want to build 2 boxes to compare so you can pick the one that sound best

Thanks for the replies but they kind of got me no where.  I've read the help guide that came with the winisd software and plugged in the information in the order that it recommends to get the most accurate results.

FAIL lol.

I've tried different orders of entering the in formation and i get about .3 cu ft. .7 cu ft. and the biggest was 1.3xx cu ft.  The .3 cu ft  was the results i recieved when entering the specs in the order suggested by the 12volt.com tutorial and winisd help guide .

Please any help with the 12" sx model will be very appreciated.  I have the subs in a prefab box and i'm not enjoying my investment like I should.

i think your problem with winisd is you might need to make sure that you have set each field to the right measurement type( mm, cm, in, etc). i think most fields are default for the metric system, but some of your sub specs are standard system measurements. double check to make sure everything matches

Thanks for the reply and tips but Yes I've checked the measurements several times, numbers, and where i place my decimal point.  Its getting aggravating because even my supervisor cannot get WinISD to give me proper results.

Is anyone willing to plug it in themselves as a huge favor to me and if they get  proper results email me the saved file ?

Is jeffchillcott still around  ? Sorry if I mispelled your s/n.

OK this is what to do got to box maker Fine the specs of the subs there and make a box for one sub and double it. Gives all the cuts and everything you need for the box. It even tunes it for you if you know what size port you want. Easy and simple. The only thing this does not do it fiberglass encloser which you can do the box and just add .5 to 1 cbft to the box it self. Hope this helps.
