Hello,

Sorry if this question has already been answered here but I could not find this answer. Here goes

Lets say I have a Mono amplifier, 1ohm stable 1000 watts rms at 1ohm. If I want to connect 2 4ohm(dvc) speakers does that mean its going to push the 1000 watts per speaker or would it be 500 watts rms per speaker? How would this be different from a 2 channel amplifier?

Thanks

with 2 dual 4 ohm subs in parallel you can do a 1 ohm load and yes it will do its 1000 Watts. Most 2 channel amps will only do a 4ohm bridge. So to run the subs you could do a 2ohm sterio which will spit your sub to L and R or 16ohm bridge.but that would limit power. So from a dollar stand point useless to drive subs. A Mono amp is built for subs with crossovers and most the time sub sonic crossovers and plays both right and left signals at the same time to each sub.

Oh and yes the power will be distibuted to both subs at 500 each with the mono amp

he can series-parallel the subs and get a 4 ohm load

yep you can do that also. Another late night brain fart. I need to stay away from here when i am half dead and still cant sleep. But still a mono amp would be the better choice to drive the subs over a 2 channel in the 1000 watt range.

So just so I understand this correct, if I have a MONO Amplifier running 1000WATTS RMS and 2 4OHM DVC's, is the power going to be 1000 watts rms per speaker or 500 rms per speaker?

Thanks guys
