i got my 1800 watt quantum for a buck 50, i know it doesnt really push that cuz they overate their doodie like most of the off brands, but the amp really performs pretty good for the brand it is i would guess 1100 watts, now compare quantum to legacy, or boss, or lightning and all those peices of junk, whats better for the money? with that said now compare a 229 dollar orion cobalt 800.1 amp great bigginer amp but the less expensive way more powerfull quantum is more for the buck minus the orion quality what are some of your opinions on this matter thanx!!

well, with any big name brand you definitely pay a premium for the NAME, but that name didn't come from nowhere. these brands have a reputation of making good quality products that for the most part do what they say it will(and sometimes more)without destroying itself. with that said, all amps make power so you cant judge a good amp strictly because it puts out a lot of power. what sets off-brand amps apart from good quality amps is their ability to produce a powerful, undistorted signal to whatever speaker its on. and be able to take a little bit of abuse without damage.
now if all you want to do is drive a speaker with a little bit of power and never really push the amp, than thats fine to have a boss amp but a boss amp will probably destroy itself if you try to compete with it or if you are the type of person that just keeps their system on blast all the time.
i used to have a hifonics amp that i liked a lot, some people would put hifonics in that same category but it did its job and actually had the power to blow a kove audio Armageddon 12. i never competed with it or abused it and it worked fine until i sold it to my friend who hooked it to a 0.5ohm load and fried it instantly. it just couldn't take the abuse and that is the difference between cheap amps and more expensive amps like JL and zapco ,etc

so what ur saying is quantum is good for the average begginer that doesnt abuse their system but if u always blast ur system then quantum sucks, ur probly right im just not rich and cant afford a hcca amp which is what i want so i just got the quantum and i would say way better than a boss or legacy u know? thanks!
