Hi guys, just trying to get some opinions here. I have an 08 ford focus with the base stereo in it. I am looking to upgrade just the speakers and possibly with a sub or three in the trunk. I know i will need a line converter to hook up an amp, but i was hoping you would be able to offer your opinions on what to do to have the best system i can for about $1000. I am planning on keeping the stock hu cuz of the information pod on the dash would be blank without the stock hu, unless someone knows any better. i am also looking to conserve trunk space as this is my daily driver. any experince adding subs to the back deck? looks tight there. thanks for any help

As for your system. What exactly are you looking for sound wise? SQ, loud. These are things that will really help to determine what to get. The best advice i have for you is take a look out there att what componets are in your price range. Visit a shop listen to it or a friend or someone that is using it and go from there.

I try to be funny, not just funny looking. I guess I am looking for both. I was thinking components in the front, what about the rear doors? components or coax? And how limited am I with keeping the factory hu? Line converters come in two and four channel only unless I'm mistaken(been known to happen). Damn that frigging pod on the dash! Without it I would just get a new hu, but I can't deal with a blank screen when I'm driving.

On that kind of budget i would Do doors on amp power rears on HU. And then an amp for the sub/subs. You could do a 4 channel amp using 2 channels for fronts and bridged to the rear. depending on sub selection and the one or three lol. Many combos out there and many opinions of what brand to choose. But in the end you are going to have to listen to it and buy it. So like i say do you research of what you can buy. Then listen to it. If you have question about power or on a certain brand. Feel free to ask. But having someone tell you what to get with your money knowing you are going to be listening to it doesnt go well with me lol
