Has anyone ran an MTX 8100D at 1.5 ohms before?
I have 2 jl 12inch w6's and this amp falls within my price range and seems to be able to power my subs.
The only problem is I will have to run it @ 1.5 ohms and didn't want to get the amp if it shuts down to much at this resistance. Any ideas or experiences?

The lowest I ever ran the ones we installed was to 2 ohms, but given the true physics of resistance, the amp probably goes down to 1 ohms for very short periods of time. Call the manufacturer on this one and ask them what they think ?

I have never seen them run continuously at 1 ohm, but I have seen many people burp the 81000D at 1 ohm with no problems at all...I am not sure if I would want to try a sustained 1 ohm load with one of those amps...they are tough, but you may just figure out exactly how tough they are, and not necessarily in a good fashion...

My friend had the MTX 6500D pumping 2 Infinity Perfect 10.1 D's at 1ohm for less than a week.  The amp was fine but blew out one of his speakers.  Goes to show the power of MTX.
