i have 2 alpine 10" type x.. they use 1000 rms. if i get an amp that can do 1000 rms 1 ohm, and i parallel wire them to one ohm will they each get 1000 rms or do they split it into 500 each...? if so then do i need an amp that puts out 2000 rms for 1 ohm??

yeah you need 2000 watts@ 1 ohm to get 1000 per sub

They will each get 500watts. The amp is only capable of making 1000watts, not 2 x 1000watts (= 2000watts).

If you have a truck with a 4,000 pound towing capacity, if you mount 2 extra balls on the bumper, can you now tow 12,000 pounds?

If the speakers are Dual Voice Coil drivers with 4 oh coils, then yes you can. If the speakers are as you say 4 ohm single voice coil, then no it will not make it to 1 ohm with 2 4 ohm coils.
