Vehicle: 2004 GMC Sierra Danali w/Bose speakers
Just purchased and new Pioneer head unit and installed it with a wiring harness and the OnStar/doorchime rataining module. before placing the head unit into the dash i turned it on to make sure that it was working properly. it worked though it seemed a lot quieter than the OEM stereo. and the sound would cut out every once and a while for a split second. having somewhere to be soon i decided to go with it for now so i turned off the ignition and implaced the head unit and dash. i went to turn it back on and the head unit would turn on but there was no sound. i removed the unit again and checked the wires (which all seemed to be connected). so then i unplugged the new head unit and put in the OEM and it still worked just fine.
So....did something happen to my new head unit or is it just not working with my factory speakers?

Since you said it played at low volume before it was put in the dash, this is probably not your problem. There may be a wire on your harness that is labeled Power Antenna, since your truck does not have a power antenna, you may not have connected this wire. It is also the amp turn on wire. If there is a power antenna wire on the new harness, connect it to the Blue/White wire of your radio. Did you connect the harness to the RCA jacks of the radio, or to the speaker wires on the radio?

is the adapter you bought say it is for bose systems also? it needs to be. one such harness is the GMOS-04 from metra but there are others from different companies.

whats the part number od the module you used to interface with the onstar/bose?

still no sound, i put the OEM back in for now so i have something to listen to until i figure this out.

Did you look for the power antenna wire on the harness? Or it may be labeled amp turn on wire. Either way it needs 12 volts. Did you verify this?
