subs canceling out

I know that if subs are cross wired they will cancel each other out.

Lets say you were to put 4 subs in the bed of a truck, one on each corner all firing into the middle. In effect the front right would be facing the rear left, front left facing the rear right, and all of their paths crossing in the middle. Would this have any negative effect on the sound?
