Hey i have Two 10" Infinity Kappa Subs with 350 RMS power and 1400 peak power as it is right now I have a ZX 450.2 kicker amp on them and its just not working for me it doesnt hit hard at all so im thinking of upgrading the amp to a mono channel to get more power and Im wondering if I should do two seperate monos or one high powered mono i was told with a mono amp on two subs that it will cause the two subs to play as one consistent unit and not as two separate subs. Im thinking of putting a ZX1000.1 kicker amp instead of the 450.2? what suggestions does anyone have

What voice coils are on the subs? The kicker 1000.1 is a beast so that might even be over kill on those subs

you only need a ZX750.1 to run thos subs. whats the ohms rating on thos subs? dual or single voice coils?

and theres only one speaker output and input on that amp do i just throw both sets of wires into the one set on the amp

Option 2 (series/parallel) = 2 ohm load
Voice coils wired in series, speakers wired in parallel
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 2 or 1 ohm mono

whats the difference between 4 ohms 2ohms and 1 ohms to me i would think 4 ohms would be the most powerful the one the hits the hardest am i wrong?

ohms is resistence. 4ohm has more resistence then 2ohm and 1 ohm has less resistence then 2 ohms. with your kicker amp it probly only 2 ohm stable so running a 2 ohm load on the amp will get the most power out of your kicker amp. if you ran a 4ohm load on the amp insted of 2 you will loose about 1/2 the power it can put out.

Ohms also determines how long your amplifier will survive.  Your amp is 2 ohm mono stable.  You really need to follow the diagram I posted.  If it makes you feel any better, each speaker is wired as a 4 ohm speaker.

yes follow the diagram posted thats the best way to wire it

okay so if i follow that diagram which i will and i use a mono channel amp lets say the ZX1000.1 wiring it that way does it put 500 watts to each sub? and with that diagram do i add the ohms together like lets say the subs are each at 1 ohm does that make it a 2ohm system and if the subs are at 4 ohms does that make it an 8ohm system

yes if you wire it that way you will have 500 watts rms to ech sub.

if you hook 2 voice coils that are 4 ohm as + to + and - to -   that will give you a 2 ohm load if you take 2   4ohm voice coils run one + to the other voice coils - then the remaining + and -  to your amp it will be a 8ohm load

so which situation do u have laid out in your diagram the second one where its both positives to the positive terminal and both negatives to the negative terminal so that it would be an 8 ohm system

im sorry if im being annoying about it but im just not understanding what your saying i guess im not really sure how a subwoofer is set up with the voice coils and all and the ohms

hey i forgot to tell you while we was on the phone but you only need a kicker ZX750 to run thos subs a zx1000 will be to much. so if you do use a 1000 be carfull because it will be to much power.
