Okay here's the situation: my JL 500/1v2 had a problem that i've posted here a couple months ago. The power light to my amp turns on, but no output. Member "i am an idiot" has informed me that it may be because the power supply has failed. Planning to ship my amp out to him to fix. Meanwhile, i've been running my 1000/1v2. With my horrible luck, the same problem has struck my 1000/1. Now, I'm not sure if this is because i'm not tuning the input sensor incorrectly(which i believe i am), or if JL amps have a tendency to have these problems. Any input appreciated.

What kind of load are you putting on it? ------------- Support the12volt.com

I think Dyohn meant What is the total load placed on the amp by your subwoofers. What kind of subwoofers are you running? How do you have them wired? What are the ohm ratings of the voicecoils?

And have you verified with a meter that you have a proper ground.

I had a similar problem. At times my amp would shut off for no reason. If i turned the volume down it would come back on. My dealer was trying to trouble shoot it, since i couldnt figure it out and was pulling my hair out after weeks. Finally we changed from a 100 amp circuit breaker to the JL audio 100 amp fuse holder. Standard tube fuse. That solved the problem. JL said that there was too much resistance thru the circuit breaker......

And you probably have them wired for 1-ohm, correct? Did you follow JL's procedure for setting the gain to support a that load? ------------- Support the12volt.com

My dealer tuned it and retuned it, he said he checked everyting with a volt meter at 4 ohms 3/4 volume ect...... the final impedence of the subwoofer enclosure is four ohms. The box comes pre wired, and i cant find a wiring diagram, but the specs say 4 ohms........unless im missing somthing? I not an expert like most of you guys.

That's good. 4-ohms is much easier on the amp than 1-ohm. Well if the dealer set it up for you and it blew then I assume the dealer will honor the warranty. ------------- Support the12volt.com

my amp never blew, it was shutting off somtimes. When i would turn the volume down it would come back on. They even sent it back to JL for testing, then changed from a circuit breaker to a JL audio 100 amp fuse
