Can i just add a resistor in series with the tweeter to get a larger dB cut? If so what size and do they go in series on the positive? Oh yeah it only has a -6dB. I would like to make a -9dB.

You need to lay out the whole scenario, dude.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

As you already expressed concern for it, yes if you add a resistor in series with the tweeter, it will change the crossover point.  Is it possible to turn the tweeter in a mammer that it is now off axis with your ear?  If that is not an option, you could try a small piece of black non-backed carpet in front of the tweeter.   Or maybe a piece of material a bit thicker than and not as transparent as grill cloth.

It IS possible, however, to add the resistor before the passive components in the crossover, affecting only the amount of power reaching the high-pass crossover section. This will only adjust the output of the tweeter, but it is a significantly more "hit-or-miss" proposition.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
