I'm getting ready to do a center console for my '65 Mustang that wraps up the center of the dash. I wanted to use either an Alpine 1 DIN receiver or a 2 DIN A/V receiver. The only problem is that the car has the original dash, there is no provision for anything other than the old school knob and dial setup, cutting the dash is not an option either. I wanted to know if there is a way to mount just the faceplate/screen up high were it is convenient and have the main unit mounted somewhere else?

Yes, you would replace main ribbon cable with longer wire or you can use the Kenwood A500/A1000 with 4" or 7" remote screen.
