I have a 2001 Tahoe and need to run TONS of wires through the door molex and boot, but there are so many wires there is absolutely no way they will fit through the molex and boot. The total diameter of wiring all together is about 1".

I thought about searching for a factory boot from another vehicle that is a lot bigger, but securing the boot to the opening where the molex is might not work out right. I also thought about adding another factory boot next to the existing one.

Any Ideas?

Adding an additional factory boot will work for the front doors once I drill out the center of the molex, but the rear door jams dont really have a location to add another boot. On the door there's a good spot, but the jam not so much. Taking the doors off to cut out the holes for the new boots should be fun.

Here are all the wire runs going into each door:

There are 3 runs of 12g speaker wire, 14g/4 for window regulator modules, 16g/2 for lighting, 18g/2 for alarm status LED, and 18g/2 for LED side view mirror turn signals.

I know that's a lot of wire runs but it has to be done!

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

and Yes I read the How To for a basic wire run -- That How To doesn't exactly help out in this situation.

hi,

do you need to use 12 ga wire for the speakers?..being a relatively short run from the door into the associated pillar, one could certainly use 16 gauge? that would free up some area in the boot, as would using a multi conductor control cable for the turn signal and alarm leds. as for the lighting in each door, same thought. you can always run the feeds to each door larger gauge then step down at the connectors you decide to use. i wouldn't skimp on the motor wiring...at least the wires feeding the motors, the control/ switch leads i would downsize however. this assumes you are placing the window control modules inside the vehicle, not in the doors. you might look into rewiring the items in the doors. can any of the pieces use common feeds or grounds. that would save space also.

hi again,

if the inside of the door is sealed, and the window control unit is of decent quality, you'd need battery, ground and control leads to activate it (mount the module in the door). use the same battery lead as the feed for the door lighting, switch the ground side of the lights---one less wire. assuming the control leads (remote rollup and down) are to connect to a keyless module of some sort, those leads could be in the same control cable as the led wiring.
