Hi, I have a 2004 Ford Explorer with a Kenwood deck.  The truck has a factory subwoofer.  I install the stereo and used a wiring harness that I got from Best Buy.  Everytime I turned the key on where the radio would turn on, it would pop the sub.  So what I did was take the remote wire and connected it to the ignition wire the goes into the radio.  It worked perfectly and it didn't pop the sub anymore.  But when it was time to turn off the key and open the door, the radio stayed on.  But when I hit the power button on the radio with the key off, the radio will turn completely off, clock display and all, just like it should.  Is there something wrong with the way I have it connected, or is it something wrong with the radio?  Thanks alot.

Ryan

It sounds to me that you have the red wire of the radio connected to a constant wire.  It shoud be connected to a switched wire.   The amp only pops when it turns on or off.  It too is connected to a constant source of power.  The amp is staying on.  It will run your battery down.

what seems to be wrong is you have connected the blue/white remote wire from the deck connected to the red wire. all you need is to connect the blue/white wire from the radio to the blue/white wire on the harness and not connect that wire to anything else. but when you hook those wires together, you need to wire a 2k ohm resistor between the harness wire and the radio wire.

When the key is on and I hit the power button, it turns off the radio and the clock displays stays on.  And when I turn the key to the off position, the deck turns off like it should.  But if the radio is on, and I turn the key off, it wont turn the radio off.  The remote wire is connected to the yellow.  I just don't know what it could be.  Thanks.

Oh, sorry, I read it wrong.  No, it is not.  The remote wire coming from the amp is connected to the yellow wire in the back of the radio.

ok. now the yellow wire from the adaptor harness should be connected to only the yellow on the back of the radio. the red wire from the harness should be connected to only the red wire on the back of the radio. what we need to do first is fix the car staying on and then i will tell you how to fix the pop. so disconnect the amp turn on wire for right now.
