I installed a small 2 ch. Phoenix Gold amp which is running a single JL Audio 10w0 in a 1994 Camry. The car also has an Alpine 7893 ('02) deck running all stock interior speakers, and now just this one amp. Anyway, There is a turn on pop when the system comes on, but not when the system is turned off. Also, there is a pop when changing CD tracks - when you skip ahead to the next track, when the music comes back, the pop happens, something I've never come across or heard of before. It seems like anytime the audio input signal is interrupted, there will be a pop accompanied with its return. I tried 2 different grounding points to solve the problem, but that made no difference.
Would very cheap RCA cables have anything to do with this? They are used but undamaged as far as I know, but they are cheap old school Radio Shack type RCA's. You know the black ones with the red and white heads that were like $7 for a 17ft cord....
sounds to me like you might need new rca cables i had the same problem and switched up my rca cables because it would happen when i opend and closed my door turned it on or anything i wold pop and then be ok after that one pop so look into gettig some new rcas to fix your proble,

There is either a problem with the muting circuitry in the radio or a bad ground on the shield path of your RCA cables. Read the top of the following page and check your RCA jacks as it describes. If they are not grounded, perform the repair.

If all is well above, turn the gain of that amp all the way down, if noise is gone, turn it up untill it reappears and back it off a click.
