95' Oldsmobile*Ninety-Eight Regency Elite*Pioneer deh2000mp head unit*Hifonics 1610d 1600w*(2) Kicker CVR 4ohm

I just switched to a new hifonics 1600w from a planet audio 850w and in 7 days i have had my battery go dead on me. I had my battery tested the first time at autozone and the cat said the batt was shooting 13.4volts and nothing was wrong with it, the amp line from the batt to amp was not connected. The battery is a die hard gold brand new at sale and have had it for a little under 2 years now. Now this morning its dead in the drive-way again and i need to jump it again. So no bang in the trunk right now till i solve the prob. I was thinking maybe i need a new alternator it is the original from 1995. So im looking for advice into what i can do to solve this? thanks

Very possible you need an alternator, but you should also have it tested even though its original.

i did forget to mention the cat at autozone also tested the alternator and he just said its doing what it is suppose to. Don't know if it helps but the subs are ran at 4ohm so the amp is throwing 550w at that level and my lights do not dim when the subs are hitting? Also what is Big3, i assume this has to do with power, but my system may not need this from what i have looked into on it in some post?

If in fact this cat at autozone tested everything correctly then you might have an amp draw somewhere. How often does the battery die(how long does it take)? You will need to invest in a meter to test yourself or have a technician look at it for you.As far as the BIG 3:Negative from battery to chassis,Negative from alternator to chassis,Positive from battery to alternator.

well after the first 3days with the new amp hooked up the batt went dead. then day 4 and 5 all good but this morning i went out for a cut with the subs on came back all good but when i went to leave again it was dead so it would appear 3 days of work then dead batt needs a jump? and is the meter for amp purposes?

The meter is used to check for an amp draw from the battery.Check and then re-check all connections are in good condition, proper locations, and tight, ampground, and battery.
