Hey all,
dunno if anyone has seen this yet.
but the faceplate for my pioneer DEH-P8000R has gotten really dim.
seems to be getting worse over time.
I first noticed it last summer.
I usually leave the faceplate in the car instead of taking it with me so it bakes in the car in the summer time. Not sure if the extreme heat has caused it to dim. But I used to do the same with previous units in my other cars and I've never had a problem with those....
Right now I'm not 100% sure if it's the faceplate, any chance it might be the headunit that's causing this?
if it is the faceplate, I guess I'll get another one on ebay or whatever. but before I do, any tips or tricks on a way of restoring the old one?
thanks

How long have you had the head unit? Something to try would be to take off the faceplate and clean the contacts with a Q-Tip dipped in alcohol. This would cut the grime off of the contacts, thereby rendering a higher voltage and a brighter screen.

May not work, but it is worth a shot and it is cheap.

Did the clean contacts make the screen any brighter?
