My buddy has a Soundstream Rubicon 500 and one of the coils (the bigger one) has broken leads where it attaches to the board (and one of the coil wraps has a break in it).

I've fixed some electronics before, so I was going to give his a shot. The main problem is my 30 watt iron doesn't seem o heat up the coil wires. The board is getting hot, but not the wires I'm touching. Can I even resolder the leads or shoudl I just get a replacement coil? And where would I find the specs on it? Thanks.

Well I got the leads soldered. Had to use 2 30 watt irons to heat the leads, and then the solder flowed great. Haven't tested it yet though.
