I drive a 2001 jetta. I have two Alpine type x's and a kicker 850.2 in trunk. Subs in sealed box. The rear deck on the car violently rattles and totally distorts/ruins my music. There are no speakers on the rear deck. Just the board. Any one know any good ways to stop that? I get a good dynamat discount but last time i used dynamat i wasnt very impressed. Any other strategies you have tried that worked? Only thing i've tried so far is styrofoam between the board and the glass. Helped but eventually it blew the styrofoam away.
You can remove the back dash cover and instead of using just the sound deadening you should use 1/4 or 1/2 foam deadening. This is better and also makes the back dash install tighter.

any specific brand? where would i find it also? and where should i apply it once the rear deck is off? everywhere? around the edges? thanks for the input
We use Hushmat and they have 1/4", 1/2" and you can layer them up if you need thicker. I would apply it on the entire surface on the back of the dash ( top ) and then put the back dash ontop of the foam. This will ensure a tighter fit and reduce or eliminate the rattles caused by the rear deck. PM me if you want prices.

+1. dynamat wont do anything for that. i would put foam under there until it is tight and wont flex. you really dont need any special kind of foam, just soft foam but not too soft, like mattress foam.
