I have a CDE-9843 HU, Infinity 6022i front speakers (60rms), and Alpine Type-S rear speakers (50rms). When I first install them all they sounded great. But a couple of days past, one day my front speakers were making crackling noises (static) it was really annoying. It occurs when I turn up the bass from my HU or when I turn up the volume as usual but it gets worse if I turn up the bass. Also my HU's lights dim when my music plays, and it sounds fine when the engine is off. But when I have the engine running it doesnt sound so clear and nice. I have no idea what the problem. I don't want to go to a audio store because I know they will try to rip me off and just waste my time, I want to save money also. I would appriciate it if someone can help me out. Thank you.

The CDE-9843 is at least three years old. I assume you bought it used? Could be it has issues. Plus it sounds like you may have installed it incorrectly. What is the vehicle, and did you use a wiring harness adapter? ------------- Support the12volt.com

not sure how high you normally keep the bass but normal door speakers are not made to play tons of bass through them and it can damage them if you push them too hard. and a problem with your speakers might cause a problem with your head unit too if its not taken care of soon enough

Why do you think the audio store will rip you off and just waste your time? Would you refuse to go to a doctor or dentist for a problem because of the same reasons? My guess is a trip to the audio store will save you time because they will be able to see what he problem is much more quickly and provide you with a solution. And sure they will charge for their time, but that isn't ripping you off. That is providing you a service that you apparently need.
The possible issues are that you have defective product, an improper installation, or you are pushing your equipment beyond their capabilities. My guess is it's the latter; that you are turning the bass up too high and hearing the small internal amplifier in your head unit clip. The solution would be to add an outboard amplifier. But be sure the other situations aren't the cause first otherwise the amplifier won't help.

defective product? i used 2 new pairs of front speakers and the same problem occured. and the back of my HU gets really hot too. should i get a 4 channel amp? how about when it sounds fine when the engine is off? why is that? thanks a lot.

maybe some kind of electrical interference caused by the alternator when the car is running. if your radio gets really hot then its probably an internal short of some kind that is also interacting with the other electronics that are on when your car is running. normally this wouldn't be a problem but if there is something wrong inside the HU then anything can happen

Get the head unit checked out by a shop and see if it is defective. ------------- Support the12volt.com

btw its only the front speakers always making the noises. i tried also with some non brand front speakers and still it made the same noise. can it be the stickyness from the black tape that was on the speaker wires of the harness?
