I have a customer with an '01 Sport Trac, and I'm wondering what kind of subwoofer setup anyone's put in to one of these vehicles.
I've currently installed
this enclosure, and I can't seem to find any subwoofer that will a) mount in the enclosure without rubbing the bottom of the passenger seat, and b) produce sufficient SPL.
Ideally, I'd like to use that existing box, because it's already mounted well and there aren't any prefab alternatives that I could find. I've looked at the Kicker CVT 10" which doesn't seem bad, but I'm concerned that it will be inadequate in such a small enclosure(their minimum recommended sealed enclosure is 0.8 ft^3).
Suggestions, everyone?

i always build my own for those vehicles because the "pre-fab" choices are crap. i always remove the rear seat bottom on the passenger side and build a hollow fiberglass one the exact same shape and size as the old seat, then pad it and put the cover from the original seat on the new one. works awesome! the sub fires down, the seat still folds forward and everything. the sub is hard to see and nobody can tell where it's at unless your sitting on the seat (which the ladies love). here are some some pics of the last one i did which was for three JL 8" subs.

just curious if you got your customer talked into letting you do one of these yet??
No, actually, but thanks a million for the response - that's slick and I might show him the photos as an example. My skill with fiberglass is somewhat limited but I do think a similar setup might work for this application.
By chance do you remember how much airspace that enclosure had?

i dont really remember off hand but its more than it looks. ive done a few setups with it and i just adjust the airspace inside for what i need. ive put a single 10" driver in a few and they sounded great.
