so i have a 98 escort which is on the rides gallery if anyone want to see the pics of the situation. anyways i have done the big 3 in 0 gauge wire and have 0 gauge stinger wire to the back battery. which is equivalant to a kinetik 2800. i also have a 95 amp alternator. it has helped my db range about 2.5 dbs from stock wiring to the big 3 and battery. but even though it helped the dbs it still makes the lights dim at night. not very bad but pretty noticable.

The amps i have are hifonics 1200 with 80 amps of current an jbl amp with 40 amps of current. so 120 MAX current wich im sure on full tilt only pull around 100 so i thought 95 amp alt and huge battery would be good but i guess not.

Any suggestions?

The exact same thing happend to me, I got a new battery, new alt, not H/O but i ended up getting a 95 alt also. And my lights still dim. I just bought a cheap 2 farad cap for like 40 bucks and it fixed the problem.

You need a bigger alternator. A 95 amp alt is not enough for that system. You need something around 170 amps. 50 amps for the functions in your car, and the other 120 amps for your audio system. Also check the resistance of your grounds. (the lower you can get the number the better)

the resistance ended up being .2 on the most resistant ground. everything else was .1 and yes i know i need one for daily driving but on a burp it even does it. shouldnt 2 batteries and a 95 alt be good enough for a burp without takin away from the charging system? i mean 5 seconds cmon!! lol

Burp or not, current is current. If you cant produce the ammount of current being drawn then you will get dimming no matter what.

Most likely the problem is the fact that your alternator isn't big enough to keep the car running, power your amps, and charge your TWO batteries.  Batteries are a load to the alternator, so adding a second battery before upgrading your alternator isn't necesarrily a good thing.

The next step is a much larger alternator!
