I have a '96 Honda Civic HatchBack. I just had my system stolen so i figure it's a good time to upgrade. Im really interested in the RE Audio sx18d2 18" I've heard lots of good about these subs, but after looking into it, i saw that it wants an 8.0 cu ft box. I want this sub, but i need suggestions on how to design a box to fit in my lil hatchback while keeping my back seats.

Thanks

i own the same sub in a 5.5^3ft box in the extended cab part of my ranger and it sounds awesome. RE told me when i bought it that it likes about 8 cubic feet but i just didn't want to block my sight out of the back window so it ended up being around 5.5 cubic feet plus the port. i have the box tuned to about 32hz so it hits nice and low but this is the second box i have built for this sub because the first one wasn't nearly loud enough considering it is an 18.

in your case i would build a box and have the sub and port(if you port it) facing the roof and tune the port as low as you have space for. im not going to lie to you, that sub needs a big, heavy box but if you can make it happen you wont regret it. i destroy my local competitions but that might have something to do with my power class. but it has really good sound quality for daily listening.

i really cant say enough about this sub. it sounds great, i run twice the rms to it all day long with no problems, i win local comps with it, it has tons of mechanical play so it will pretty much take whatever you throw at it with a smile.
