i have a 4 channel kicker zx650.4   im replacing a memphis pr600 that burned out with the kicker ,,,, i also have 2 infintiy kappa perfect vq's    dvc subs 4 ohms each coil,,,, someone told me a way i could bridge the amp and get 4 ohms called direct impedance wiring ,, he said to hook the negative outputs of the subs togeather then ground them to the frame of the car,, has anyone heard of this method,, i cant verify it anywhere online,,     and does anyone know if this kicker amp will sound better then my memphis amp???      at first i was going to wire the sub woofer coils indepently and use all 4 outputs on the amp but i would like to bridge the amp if at all possible at a 4 ohm load ,,,,,,,,,,,    someone please help

Stop.  Do not ground any speaker wire to the chassis of the vehicle.

Option 2 (series/parallel) = 4 ohm load
Voice coils wired in series, speakers wired in parallel
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 4, 2, or 1 ohm mono

Sorry, I didn't catch the 4 channel part.  You only option is going to be bridging each speaker to each pair of channels of the amp.  Of course you will need to wire the voice coils in series for an 8 Ohm mono load.

Option 2 (series) = 8 ohm load
Voice coils wired in series
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 4, 2, or 1 ohm mono

What exactly is the Memphis doing or not doing?  Did it smoke?

has anyone heard of wiring the negative outputs of subs to the frame of the car?

If you wanna fry another amp, by all means DO SO!

Let me add the necessary stress to i am an idiot's response:

The amplifier you have CANNOT have any output wires connected to the chassis of the vehicle, it will burn the amp, or at a minimum repeatedly blow the fuses.

Now, as far as wiring the woofers in series, for 8 ohms each, then bridging the pairs of channels, it will be EXACTLY the same power as running one channel of the amplifier to a voice coil, running the amp NOT bridged in 4-channel mode, and could be a bit more confusing overall. The EASIEST answer is 4-channel mode, one voice coil per channel.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Are you going to get the amp repaired?
