I am having to use an expensive wire harness adapter on my jeep. According to this adapter the red or "accessory" should draw no more than one amp. There is a ten amp fuse in the back of the radio which leads me to ask which of the two power wires on a Kenwood head unit is the power actually drawn from to power the amp in the radio the red switched power wire or the yellow constant power wire. I used to think it was the red switched wire and the yellow constant was to just keep the radio from loosing memory when the car was off. If that is the case though I do not see this adapter being good for much as I am sure the unit will exceed one amp and I would imagine most all head units are the same way.

If the radio is new (within the last 15 years or so)  the red wire is only a trigger wire.  All power for the deck comes in on the yellow wire.   Your thinking is correct for radios built years ago.  The yellow wire was called the memory wire, and that was it's only purpose, clock and radio presets.  Now it is labeled as constant.
