Hey if my distribution block is fused do I still need to have a fuse in my power line between the battery and the block? If not should I have one?

You should always have a fuse less than a foot from the battery, if something shorts it might travel the line back through the car, its very dangerous not too.

if your distribution block is about a foot to eighteen inches of the battery, you should be good  ------------- COMMIT YOUR WAY TO JEHOVAH AND HE WILL ACT IN YOUR BEHALF.

If the distro block is in the back...yes you need a fuse. It will not stop the power wire from burning the car to the ground.

I've always fused EVERY wire running from my battery to anything in my car (deck, alarm, horn relays, whatever). People often joke with me about all the extra fuses around my battery. This time, i've changed my mind and decided rather than run a main power cable from the front to the back, I instead just got an Optima (long before reading the posts about them here) and will run my 1 gauge to my fuse block. Every item in my trunk, even though most have built-in fuses, will be fused seperately. But YES, everyone else was right. FUSE that badboy or you'll be driving a hibatchi before you know it.
