full system in 2008 vw r32

Hello all !

I am new to this forum and was curious if anyone could help me install my new amps,sub,headunit,4 components and a capacitor !

I have recently purchased a 2008 vw r32.

I was anxious to have the best sound quality possible for I make many cross country trips.

I bought a
JL Audio G Series G6600 6 channel 600 watt amp

JL Audio G Series G1700 mono block 700 watt amp

2 sets of
Pioneer Premier TS-D720C components for the rear seats.

2 sets Polk Audio db6501 for the front door panels.

Polk Audio MM1040-10 inch sub for the mono block.

I also bought a Tsunami LITEWAVE Series PP1002TM capacitor\




I realize I am missing a few things in this jumble of goods

I am planning on purchasing a new HU with all the necessary preamps.

I have just waited until now to make the purchase due to the fact that I am quite uneducated on system hookup.

I previously had the basic coaxial speakers and 2 twelve inch obnoxious subs with a 1000 watt amp in my jeep. Just a basic setup nothing fancy. This was before I joined the armed forces = limited cash flow.    

I am prepared to purchase a new alternator since I dont want to not be able to start my car on a perfect stormy day.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Also if anyone could let me know on what headunit would serve me best since I favor navigation. As well as an ipod hookup. Along with the obvious RCA outputs.

Also If anyone has any recommendations on how to replace the center speakers in the front and rear of my vehicle that would be great since 2 center speakers are going to waste.

We deal with Clarion and the new NX509 would be my suggestion but you can also look at Kenwood decks as they are good units as well. As far as hooking up your system, you can find basic wiring help for system outlines. Doing the actual wiring will require onsite help for you or an experienced friend. Running wires is not as simple as most people think it is, especially trying to hide larger gauge wires in newer vehicles. Integration is also a challenge for installers because once you remove the OEM deck from new vehicles you run into problems where OEM functions are lost or problems arise.

You will need the Pacific Accessory Corporation C2R-VW  module to integrate an aftermarket deck to the R32's 10 speaker system and these features:

The C2R-VW allows you to replace the factory radio in 2002-2008 VW CANbus vehicles. The C2R-VW wiring harness is pre-wired for a plug and play connection to the SWI-CAN to retain steering wheel controls. This will dramatically reduce installation time.

• R.A.P. (Retained Accessory Power) +12v output. • VSS output. • Illumination output. • Parking brake output. • Reverse trigger output.

Also, two sets of components for this vehicle with only a single sub is over kill and also going to be hard to smooth out the sound. The more speakers, the harder it is going to be to tune. Go with one set of each and personally I would just go with coxial in the rear instead of components. Also, did you listen to the Polk speakers before purchasing them or why was this your choice ? Also for the Pioneer's ?

I was been recommend buy these as I am very uneducated on component speakers. I have a 90 day return policy as well, I was debating whether or not to purchase rd audio components along with rd sub but if you have a better suggestion. I would be very thankful, oh and thank you for pointing me in the direction of clarion and the adapter you said I must have. You said this would drown out my sound ? How so ?

Too many mid to low ranges ?

I am quite the stingy type when it comes to hiring someone to do something for me so that being said with enough reading could this task be possible to someone with rookie skills ?

If your going to be driving alot and will be spending alot of time in the vehicle, you want to have speakers that are going to be kind to your ears at low volumes as well as high volumes ( especially the high ). I recommend Morel Dotech6 component speakers and Tempo speakers for the rears with an ARC Audio 300.1 amplifier. This set up with a 10 or 12 inch ARC subwoofer  and a ARC Audio 500.1 would finish off the package great.

If you have 2 sets of front components and 2 sets of rear components this will be hard to tune and the reason why some installers use two sets of component speaker is because they have a plethora of subs in the rear that they have to keep up with. In your case, you only have one sub ( at most 2 ) and having the extra speakers will only cause you grief in sound and also installation.

The answer to your last comment is the system is only as good as the installation & the tuning. You can have the best equipement in the world, but if it's installed and tuned imporperly, it will sond like a Wal-Mart stereo..... but costing you thousands.

They run significantly higher wattage than the speakers I have in front of me ! I will take you advice on using these speakers. Ebay is the greatest website.

Keep the cap in there. I'm not a fan, but seeing that you have it, might as well use it.

Everything Jeff has been saying is right on the money, but honestly man, I'd say poney up the cash and give your car to a pro. Not just saying that because guys like Jeff and I could use the business in this economy, but if you take your car to a respectible shop where you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the technician working on your car will do right by you, it's worth the money. A lot of shops will offer lifetime warranties on their workmanship, even do uninstallations if you decide to trade your car in or sell it a few years down the road. Even a budget system put in the right hands can come out sounding pretty impressive, so if you're dumping a couple grand into just parts, you have the potential to walk away with a killer package if you can hook up with an installer that knows what they're doing.
