I am wanting to install a amp and two woofers in this vehicle. The inputs for the amp I would like to take off of the rear speakers and run them thru a Hi/Lo circuit first. The problem, when I look at the rear speakers there are four (4) wires feeding each one. Which two (2) do I take use to feed the input of the amp. Thanks. Lumpy

disconcect and try two wires at a time untill you get sound then use those two just make sure to reconect them all to the speakers

I would suggest getting a wiring diagram from the 12volt.com and that should tell you the polarity of each wire.

Thanks guys for the replies. I didn't retrieve the wiring diagram earlier because of trouble logging in. (my fault) The diagram only lists two wires per speaker, a + and - for each side, so I guess it is going to be a trial and error. Next question I have is: what does all the circuitry do on the back of these speakers and why four wires?

The speakers are coaxial and the circuit board id the corssover for the Infinity speakers. Here is the information that I have on the Infinity speakers for the OEM Dodge systems:

Green - Speaker wire
Gray - NOT USED
Black - Speaker wire
Red - NOT USED

You will have to see which is (+) and which is (-) of the two speaker wires.

Just to add to what Jeff said--I'm pretty sure those two extra wires are needed for when you have the chrysler infinity systems with rear tweeters, such as the caravans. at least this has been the case from my experience.

Funny though, I got my 96 caravan w/out the infinity system but added aftermarket speakers in the front doors and in the rear tweeter pods (they run the same wiring throughout the vehicle, to all possible speaker locations, regardless of what system the vehicle ends up getting from the factory), and these 4 speakers plus aftermarket replacements in the standard dash and rear side panel locations, are all running off of my one pioneer head unit. Which leads me to believe that they are wired in series.

Also, when I first replaced the back side panel speakers, I didn't use a speaker harness, and ended up snipping off those two extra wires. But some months later when I went to add on those tweeters, I found out that in order for the tweeters to get sound, I had to reconnect those wires that I had snipped off before from the rear side panel speaker harness

Just for everyone's future knowledge I'll try to get a picture and explain all about my experiences.

This is a infinity system and four wires are attached to each rear speaker. All four wires appear to go into a electronic circuit board that has built in heat sinks and then hook into the speaker 90 degrees from each other.
What I have done, I took a VOM and selected the VDC mode, I tested two of the wires and read 30 VDC and then determined the polarity by switching the test leads on the wires, I did this on both pairs of wires and got the same readings on both sets, I just picked one of the pairs and ran that pair into the amp.
I will be running the power wire and finish mounting the woofers and amp hopefully this weekend and then I will let you all know the outcome.

The colors on the rear speakers are red, black, green and white. I took a VOM and measured the voltage and polarity of each set of wires and took the blue and white pair and ran them thru an hi/lo circuit box and then hooked up the rest of the system in the typical fashion and I guess I got lucky because it sounds AWESOME! Thank to whomever runs this web site for it is truly an helpful site, and thanks to all that responded with some insightful input. Next project will be the daughters Mustang. Any advice!!! Lumpy

Ahh mustangs are a huge pain in the butt if you don't use the proper amp integration harness. Of course the easiest thing is to forget about the stupid factory head unit and amps....
