kinetik 12v with 18v charging system

This is what happens to a Kinetic battery if the voltage regulator fails in your late 60s convertible Cutlass. 

You can't really see it, but where the 3 4 Ga. wires were connected to the power terminal, they kept the swelling to a minimum under them.   They claim it was larger when the car came in.  It was putting out some heat.  The lead acid battery under the hood was fine.

Above pic is a top view from the front of the battery.  Swelling was contained on most sides because it was in a box in the amp rack.  The swelling in the back (Top 2 Photos) was because there was no box on that side.

Funny you should say that, there were 2 JL 1000/1 V2s and a 300/4 connected to this.  One of the 1000s did get raped.  The other 1000 and the 300 still play.  I will post pics of the amp when I get home.

Notice the transformer wires have melted from their holes in the circuit board.

No desoldering required.  All of this came out when the cover was removed.
