In the very near future, I'm planning on buying the following: - 1 x 2000 watt Hifonics BXi2008D amp
- 2 x 12" Kicker L5 DVC 4-ohm
- 1 x Kenwood Excelon KDC-X493 receiver
- and of course, the necessary wiring
I'm a noob when it comes to car audio. I honestly don't know where to start. So, here comes my questions... - Will the amp that I have selected, with the subs wired in parallel (1 ohm load if done so) be enough or to much for them?
- Will this selected setup kill my 1998 CR-V's power system?
- What's better? Ported, or sealed for these subs?
- What special tools will I need? Special tools, not screwdrivers and such.
- And...will switching my stock receiver forthe Kenwood above, disable my car alarm?
Thats it. I'll probably return wth more questions later on, but that's it for now.

1. those hifonics are ok amps. not great. the 200 puts out more like 1500 rms at 1 ohm. wich 750 rms to each will be fine as long as you set the gains right.
2. yes it will murder your battery and alternator together. get like a 120 amps alt and a second battery. optima, kinetik c&d technologies, ect...
3. ported better for pounding but sealed for sound quality. PORTED with kicker subs sound best personally
4. special tools. rca fish wire to feed through back of radio maybe, zip ties, wire strippers and cutters, flashlight for hard to see stuff, suader gun and wire for crimps and connections, pliers and channel locks, ratchet set for battery ect..., those are just some. may need more and may need less
5. now the alarm thing i dont know about. sorry man.

soo...in regards to my alt...even if its running...itll kill the charging system? wat i see alot of on youtube and what not...is that people rev their engine when they're poundin away.

right it will still kill it. say you have a 95 amp alt. well about 75% of that runs your car. so that leaves about 20 or so amps for your system. well that amp pulls around 100 amps of current on ONE hit. so your charging system cant even handle one single hit without drawing into the battery. you would have to get about a 200 amp alt for your car to run good still and to have about 100 amps or more devoted to your system.
