Which puts more of a strain on alt. Pros and cons of extra battery or cap. I never plan on playing my system with the car off. Just trying to keep my voltage up. Big Three with Kicker Pkd1 coming monday. Stinger Voltmeter coming soon. 2001 Tahoe 2 Kicker Cvr's Dvc 4ohm wired down to 1 ohm Us Amps 4000 Xt and Crunch 1400 4 channel.

Not much of a difference to an alternator but a cap puts less strain according to my personal belief due to the caps lower ESR.

The only way to strain your alt. (Correct me if I'm wrong ) is to have a overall drain that exceeds your trucks limits .. you r alt is designed to power the truck and 20% more any else more is making thwe alt run a bit harder. I suggest a ho alternator go for 240amps. I would suggest a bigger battery but you don't listen to your radio with the car off and I don't blame you. Untill I gewt my voltometer installed in my interior ill leave it running cause you don't want to get stuck. So invest in a jumper pack

I chose H.O. alternator with dual optima yellow tops for my 01' 4wd Tacoma. It has 1,400 watts rms and 4-100watt off-road lights plus a bunch of other accy's. I can watch an entire DVD (at 80% of max volume) with vehicle off and it only drops 1/2 a volt.

Yeah it was pricey, but you never really have to worry about running out of juice. The vid doesn't show the batts, just the truck (well... View from inside the truck with stereo playing then you see it move in a semi-fast manner) @ 8.5p.s.i. https://www..com/watch?v=aXmr4ClwEww
