I just installed a JVC KD-HDW10 head unit in my 96 Saturn SL2, along with the KS-PD100 ipod adapter. Everything works perfectly, great sound from Ipod, CDs, FM, etc...But I get TERRIBLE interference across all AM bands. It's a high pitched squeel with some static as well. What can I do to get rid of this, as I listen to AM radio in the morning on my way to work and this is so bad I can't hear the radio. Thanks for your help.

Did you use an antenna adapter? You need a Metra 40-GM10. ------------- Support the12volt.com

Yes, I used the adapter, and have checked and re-checked the wiring, to no avail. It's so bad I may have to re-install the factory saturn cassette player if I can't get this figured out. Are there any filters or signal boosters that actually work? Or any other ideas? Should I insulate the connection where the antenna cable plugs in to the adapter?

I would agree. Use a digital ohm meter to measure the resistance to ground on the antenna's outer shield. Test with the ignition off. Measure between a paint free section of the car's body and the outer shield of the antenna lead at the radio. You should get a reading of 0.5 ohms or less. Also measure the resistance from the lead tip at the radio to the antenna base threaded stud. You will need to unscrew it from the base. You should get the same reading. If you get a higher reading than 0.5 ohms, you need to either check the antenna connections, improve the antenna base ground through it's mount or replace the antenna. Some of the old Saturns had a corrosion problem with their antenna. If this is the case, replce it. It will also improve your FM.

i think i remember something from mobile dynamics about grounding hood to chassis...i think that is for hood mounted antenna's...something about if you get poor am signal try grounding hood to chassis...
